Week of July 7-12, 2003
KIDSEYE™ SUMMER FILMMAKING CAMP
Now in its fifth year, KidsEye™ is a user-friendly introduction to the nuts and bolts of filmmaking geared for kids, ages 9-15. Daily sessions take place over a five-day period that includes a shoot out and a chance to learn the essentials of editing. Enrollment is capped for maximum personal interaction with staff and guest instructors. Ends with a trip to the capitol city of Providence for a shoot out and a special guest appearance by staff from the Nickelodeon Channel in NYC. Lloyd Kaufman, creator of The Toxic Avenger and author of "Make Your Own Damn Movie" will be present as well as Mark Steven Bosko, filmmaker and author of his version of Movie Marketing for Dummies, "The Complete Independent Movie Marketing Handbook". These two are guaranteed to create a lively kickoff to the festivities

FILM FESTIVAL GALA PRESENTATION
Salute to the Art of the Short Film
Since RIIFF is the only New England Festival that serves as a qualifier for the Short Film Academy Award, it seemed appropriate to open this year’s Festival with a showcase of some of the best examples of world shorts. Join us for the United States premieres of Kenneth Branagh’s Listening, the Walt Disney Feature Animation Division’s Destino from France, Autopsy Room Four from the USA, Colorforms from USA, The Cook from Australia and Flying from Japan. Our opening night is a partial fund-raiser for the Patricia Neal Scholarship Fund. For 2003, we will present our screenings in both 35mm film and High Definition digital formats.

Curated by Sharon Rivo of the National Center for Jewish Film at Brandeis University. Given the epoch in which we live in, RIIFF felt it appropriate to honor and celebrate the artistry and imagination that has been the foundation for our modern entertainment industry. Work comes from throughout the world and will challenge and inspire.

Curated by the Goethe Institut of Boston and featuring some of the best work out of Germany. From shorts to features, this sidebar is guaranteed to stir and entertain.
