Cine ¡OLÉ! Spanish Film Series

cineCine ¡OLÉ! is a passport to discovering contemporary, Spanish filmmakers.

Every year the Rhode Island International Film Festival receives thousands of films from across the globe. Given the limitations of a weeklong Festival in August, only so many of these brilliant cinematic treasures can be screened. We have found that very frustrating and went looking for a solution. The answer was easy: present a series of side-bar screenings that reflect the culture of the submissions. Cine ¡OLÉ! is such showcase.

Inaugurated in February 2008, Cine ¡OLÉ! is a year-round series of special screenings that explore the cinema of one of the world’s great filmmaking countries. Think Pedro Almodóvar, Carlos Saura, or Luis Buñuel - Spanish filmmakers are highly regarded and in demand, helming film projects across Europe, the United States, and Latin America.

Film lovers are encouraged to join us as we tour the cinematic landscape of Spain through a selection of short films by up-and-coming directors.
