Films submitted without an entry fee will not be considered eligible for competition awards. Special discounts may be available for students, please contact the Programming Office for further information.
3. Film Formats Shown at RIIFF:
We screen 35mm (opening night only), DVD, Blu Ray and HDcam. Other formats must be discussed with the Technical Director. Filmmakers will be contacted by the RIIFF Programming Director with format options based on venue. This information will be available in early July. The bulk of the 2010 Festival will be presented in the digital format
4. RIIFF Screening Schedule:
Film selections will be finalized by July 4th. The screening schedule will be complete by the middle of July and will be emailed to the festival participants and posted on the website.
5. Exhibition Copy Shipping Information:
Not later than July 20th. We need to pre-screen and log in your work. Send your copy to the following address:

6. Poster Sizes for Publicity:
Posters can be of any size, no requirements. The largest we take is the marquee poster; the smallest can be postcard size. A variety of sizes are encouraged. Posters should be sent to the same address as the exhibition copy of the film.
7. Festival Awards for Film Competition:
Film awards are trophies, not cash prizes. The winner of Best Short will be submitted to the Academy of Motion Pictures for Oscar consideration. The awards ceremony is Sunday August 15th, 2010.
8. Film Selections:
All filmmakers will be notified through email by early-July 2010.
9. General Admission Ticket Prices:
Opening Night Film Screening - $20/ticket (free for filmmakers)
Gala Party -$40/ticket ($25 for filmmakers w/discount)

Certain films might sell-out. Please redeem vouchers or 6-packs at least 10 minutes before a particular screening. We cannot guarantee seating if you arrive late.
10. Filmmaker Passes & Event Ticketing:
Each Filmmaker receives 2 PASSES per film, which grant full access to all screenings, forums and after parties. Certain events are offered at discounted rates (Opening and Closing Night Gala).
Note that certain films may sell out; please arrive at least 10 minutes before a particular screening. We cannot guarantee seating if you arrive late.
11. Opening and Closing Night:(for Filmmakers)
Opening Night:
The Opening Night President's Reception is for invited guests and purchasers of the $100 Opening Night Package. (sorry no discount is available to this event)
Opening Night Screening and evening gala -starts at 7:00 p.m.,
Film screening is free for filmmakers with passes. The Party will cost $25.
All 3 opening night events - $100. Event details will be available in July.
Awards Ceremony and Reception, Sunday, August 9th:
$15 for filmmakers and $20 for guests/general public

12. Distributors Attending the Fest:
We do not have a concrete list of which distribution companies are attending this year (they tend to surprise us) but we have strong ties with representatives from IFC, Miramax, Sony, Media Blasters, Lion’s Gate, and other companies have attended the festival in recent years. More information on distributors will become available during the festival as they become availabe to us.

14. Accommodations:
We have special discount accommodations with the historic Biltmore Hotel in downtown Providence along with other locations which will be announced by Spring 2010. For filmmakers on a budget, we also have the Adopt-a-Filmmaker program available. Under this program, local festival patrons offer filmmakers free accommodations in their home or apartment. For more info about discounted rooms or the host program, please contact Richard Corso, our Hospitality Manager at richardc@film-festival.org.
15. Promoting Your Film at RIIFF:
Filmmakers may advertise their film in our program guide and newspaper announcements. This info with up-to-date details will be included in the acceptance letter.
16. After Parties:
All After Parties start mid-evening, from 9:00 p.m. A schedule for the week will be available upon registration. Any special events will be posted daily at filmmaker registration.
17. Film Introductions/ Q&A:
All film screenings begin with an introduction by a RIIFF staff member or volunteer. After the screening, attending filmmakers are invited to host a Q&A session with the audience. We will do our best to provide adequate time for Q&A’s, but depending on runtime, projection, and daily schedules, the Q&A time frames may vary. Please consult with the venue manager prior to your screening.
18. Horror Festival:
RIIFF hosts a horror festival in October. A separate submission and entry fee is required for consideration in the horror festival competition. Please download an application form from our Competitions page.
