As part of its onhgoing support for education and the arts, the Flickers’ Rhode Island International Film Festival (RIIFF) is proud to announce the James L. Seavor Scholarship Fund. The Scholarship is geared specifically for students at studying journalism and/or creative writing. It is open to young scholars who are attending Rhode Island institutions of higher education.

Applications are now being accepted and have a Saturday, June 19, 2019 extended deadline. The Scholarship finalists will be introduced on August 6th at The Vets during the Festival’s Opening Night Gala with an award winner announcement on Sunday, August 11th at the Annual Filmmaker's Award Ceremony.

Named after long-time Flickers' friend and supporter, James L. Seavor, the scholarship pays recognition to his career as a journalist, creative writer and radio personality. The annual award is for $1,000 and will be presented without restrictions, allowing the winner to use the money as they see fit for their education.
