RIIFF - NONDISCRIMINATION POLICY

Commitment to Diversity, Inclusion and Nondiscrimination

Since its founding, the Rhode Island International Film Festival (“RIIFF”) has demonstrated an ongoing commitment to people and to fair employment practices and unqualified consideration of artist submissions. As RIIFF has grown and expanded, its work force and submission demographic have become more diverse. RIIFF believes that this diversity helps the organization realize its full potential and truly reflects its commitment to international film. Recognizing and developing the talents of each individual as well as those of the artists who submit their work to RIIFF brings new ideas to RIIFF and, ultimately, the world. The organization benefits from the creativity and innovation that results when RIIFF and the numerous artists, who have different experiences, perspectives and cultures, work together. This is what drives invention, innovation, and high performance at RIIFF. We believe a well managed, diverse work force and submission demographic expand RIIFF’s base of knowledge, skills and cross-cultural understanding, which in turn, enables us to understand, relate and respond to the diverse and ever-changing film industry throughout the world, connecting everyone involved to the power of independent film. Our overall commitment is reflected in our diversity and inclusion philosophy.

Compliance, Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action
RIIFF’s policies and supporting practices are built upon this philosophy, as well as a set of values that include a strong belief that all employees, business partners, sponsors, and submitting artists should be treated with dignity and respect. In accordance with this, RIIFF does not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment, business partner, sponsor, or submitting artist because of race, creed, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, national origin, disability, age, or covered veteran status. It is also RIIFF’s policy to comply with all applicable national and local laws pertaining to nondiscrimination and equal opportunity.

Consequences
RIIFF will not tolerate any form of discrimination and will take appropriate disciplinary action, including possibly termination, of any person determined to have engaged in unlawful conduct under this policy.

No Retaliation
RIIFF will not retaliate nor discriminate against any employee or applicant because he or she has opposed any unlawful employment practice or filed a charge of employment discrimination, testified, assisted, or participated in any manner in an investigation, proceeding, or hearing related to employment practices.
