This e-mail was received from a writer who won a First Prize Award with
RIIFF:
"Speaking
of great meetings--I met with Renegade Effects Studio
in North Hollywood last week and sold them "Princess
& the Pirate"
with a financial contigency of thirty days. They were
taking the
project to their financial backers this past weekend
and will have
an answer to me in two weeks. Fingers crossed! Anyway,
it was nice
to hear the sounds of gushing over my writing...even
if there are a
few minor edits to be taken care of should the money
men come
through for us. If the money comes through (they're
anticpating
about a $43 million production budget) the project
will be greenlit
immediately. I'll let you know when I get the final
word.I can't thank you
and the festival enough for the help in getting my
script the exposure it so needed. Chat soon, Dana"
2013 FLICKERS: Rhode Island International Film Festival: Call for Screenplay Entries
Next Main Festival Edition: August 6-11, 2013
Awards Notification: Columbus Day Weekend, October 2013
Extended Deadline: July 15, 2013
The Rhode Island International Film Festival is
a founding partner of The International Film Festival
Submission System (BrigitFest) – on the Web at
Withoutabox.com and prefers paperless entries. Withoutabox
provides cost-saving, online entry to major film festivals
throughout the U.S. and in Europe with one master entry
form, allowing you and us to enter your film more quickly
and with greater accuracy. This method is free and easy.
Withoutabox users enjoy the advantages of Extended Deadlines
and Online Press Kit submissions and filmmakers with
an upgraded project on Withoutabox receive $5.00 off
their Entry Fees.
FLICKERS:Rhode Island International Film Festival is calling for Screenplay Entries for its 17th annual competition. The Festival is accepting screenplays in all genres. Screenplays must have been written after 2011.
Screenplays entered into the competition will be adjudicated by a distinguished panel of industry professionals, educators, peers and film fans. The Grand Prize winner will become a central focus during ScriptBiz™ the screenplay pitch forum held during the Festival. The Grand Prize winner will also receive prizes valued at over $10,000. This includes travel, up to four nights accommodations, Final Draft software and screenplay promotions. Since the contest winners are announced following the main Festival, the Grand Prize winner’s work will be a focal point for RIIFF 2014 with the official trophy presented at the Festival's Opening Night Celebration.
Screenplays will be judged on creativity, innovation,
vision, originality and the use of language. The key
element is that of communication and how it complements
and is transformed by the language of film.
The deadline for 2013 screenplay submissions is July
15, 2013. Very Important: Winners will be announced by October
14, 2013 (over Columbus Day Weekend). Note as this is important: This follows the main Festival since it allows us time to read the entries carefully and discuss the reviews with our adjudicators. As this competition is designed, the grand prize screenplay then becomes a focal point for the next Festival the following August.
Guidelines for Submission and an Entry Form can be downloaded below:
For the first time, the Festival is also taking electronic submissions through Withoutabox (linked above at the top of the page)
